  • The monster in the garden!!

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me id the monster that has sprung up in the garden, it's now 7 ft tall and getting taller by the day, the purple buds change into tiny white flowers. My feeling is that it's some kind of 'Angelica' although the leaf shape has thrown me, but worried incasee it's hogweed (Not that hairy imo).

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I seem to think Angelica is a relation of common hogweed. You'll need to do a bit of research chippers, or perhaps someone far more knowledgable than me (and there are loads) will be along soon to help you.

It's angelica triffidus. Destroy it before it destroys you and the whole village.......

Lol, actually some kind fellow over at Home and Gardening Forums & Blogs - Garden Stew managed to find out what it is for me and it is Valeriana officinalis otherwise known as 'Heal All'. Many thanks to those of you that had a look and a head scratch.
