  • Mixing Manures?

    Hi,
I am going to be filling my compost bins with rabbit manure, its straw based. The thing I'm wondering is can I mix other manures in with it.
I know we have mice down the plot as I discovered when I popped the lid off a plastic compost bin and looked in and discovered 4 mice looking back at me. They didn't move until I ended up kicking the bin and shouting at them to get out.
So I was thinking if I could layer rabbit manure with horse manure and let it rot down? Or is it going to be a case of getting the rabbit manure wet to stop visitors moving in?
The problem with keep watering it is that the water will be turned off soon and it wont heat up and rot down.
    Thanks for advice

I don't know about mixing manures but we keep rabbits and I use all the bedding as a mulch. We used to put it in the compost bins and the straw took forever to rot down. One time the entire bin was dry we could never get enough water on it. As a mulch in a not too thick layer it rots well.

Regularly adding some wee will help it rot down quicker
