  • Mixed Salad Seeds - Potting or Seedling Compost

    Hi All,

    Another beginner here....

Plan on growing a variety of salad leaves outdoors in containers - Can I sow directly into normal potting compost or should I first go for seedling compost and then transfer?

Also can I get away with growing in shallow trays (around 5cm depth) or do I need something deeper? I plan to harvest as baby leaves rather than letting them grow on to full size.

    Thanks in advance!

MP (multi purpose) is fine. I never use seed compost, myself.

5cm is much too shallow. It will dry out in 5 mins in June
