Default marrigold seeds

Hello, this is possibly a question that will show how much of a beginner I am. Well here goes....Please find my photo of a seed attatched

pale papery bit at the top. i just push them into the soil, they dont seem to mind a bit of slap-dash treatment.

i just sprinkle on the soil, and sprinkle a bit more soil/compost on the top and water in. Too small to worry about which way is up. They always seem to come up for me.

Plant them the way nature does, just drop them onto the soil and lightly cover them. BTW which part of my home town of Liverool are you from, just noticed on another thread you said you've now moved north of the border.
