Hello Growingchef, I think nearly everybody had the same problem this year with all different varieties which are usually good. We blamed the weather. Last year I grew Charlotte and they were superb salad potatoes. This year I had to steam them because of the problems you describe. I also grew Cherie this year and they were wonderful salad potatoes, not watery at all. You can hace a look at them here.

Lady Christl. Planted 25kg of this and have had a huge yield of almost perfect new potatoes - so good my customers - none of whom had even heard of the variety let alone tasted it - kept coming back for more -and you can't argue with that.
Charlotte is also a good early salad potato which performs well - though I prefer the slightly yellower coloured Nicola.
Maris Peer is a good second early for a boiling potato.
