How to tell when its ready to pick cucumbers (pick included)?

You men and your tape measures!! Pick them young and not too big - size isn't everything!! If you leave them to grow a whopper , the plant will just stopped producing any more

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ like the lady said. I harvest my mini cumbers at about 5 to 6 inches. When I grew standard varieties I let them go to about 10 inches.

they are Marketmore cucumbers by the looks of it, I'm growing the same ones so I'd like to know the answer too as I have a couple that are approx 5 inches at the moment

6 - 8" is best for Marketmore.

Hi All, I was given one plant this year and have had six large (10 inches) cucumbers off it already. I found that when I left them to grow all the other small cucumbers that had started to grow, started to die. As soon as I picked them all, the plant continued to grow and now there are loads more new cucumbers growing. I will pick them earlier now but I would say, keep an eye on everything that is growing and if the small ones start dying, then you need to pick the big ones.
