How far would you travel.......

I travel 8 mile's each way it is well worth it nice light soil you can work it when it is wet .
The ground here at home orible clay only good for dahlia's and rose's..

I travel 2 miles each way to mine, quite close compared to some people. Plus I grown in containers at my home.

Mine's about a mile or so away - but since I don't drive, that's more than far enough for me!

Fortunately Mr E does drive (and has a company car), which is handy for getting supplies of manure and taking the big tools round there (our plot isn't really big enough for a shed), but in the summer I usually walk there with my gardening bag full of hand tools - double the exercise!

mine is 7 miles away, but is on my route to work so watering, harvesting etc is not a special trip

2 miles away, personally I woudn't go much further as I know I wouldn't go enough especially as I like to cycle there but if it's your only option and you can motivate yourself then what ever distance is fine.

My front garden at the moment is lottie one but soon I'll have to travel about 50 yards across the drive as well to Lottie two when it's fenced off from the rest of the paddock

Less than 5 minutes walk down the road

I am lucky, I know. I pass it every day when I drop off at school and walk the dog. There is another site in the next village that I'd have gone to, but I wouldn't want to have to drive miles to a plot, I'd have dug the front garden up instead.

Mine is half a kilometre, which is 500 yards for all the imperialists out there. There was a choice of two more near where I live, the one I have isn't the best site but I figured proximity was better than soil or other conditions. If I had to drive there, I doubt I would make it more than once a fortnight. As it is, I feel happy if I'm there 2-3 times a week.

Thanks for the replies. I know it�s abit of a trek, but it�s worth it!!

This is our first Allotment, and after waiting a LONG time for it, I was prepared to travel, and it only takes 20 mins or so in the car. Ideally I wanted to cycle to the Allotment, but as I haven�t been on a bike for 20 years or so, I don�t think I could manage that!!
