  • Hestia... The giant dwarf?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and new to veg growing, so would apprecaite any advice!

I am trying to grow some dwarf runner beans (Hestia). I planted them in pots inside about a month ago, and after a week or so, they began to shoot. They are now over a foot tall, and just one long (floppy!) shoot (although one has like 'baby shoots' coming from the bottom- is that okay?).

I was just wondering as all the pictures I have seen, and the fact they are supposed to be a dwarf bush variety if this is what they are supposed to be like? I thought they would be more bush like, and not really needing any support... Am I supposed to pinch them out or anything?

Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

I think you may have started them to soon. They probably have not had sufficient light and that's why they are floppy(leggy). I grew Hestia three years ago and they grew to about 18". The pictures you sometimes see in some catalogues show a container with a number of closely spaced plants in the same pot so you can get the impression that they are more bushy than they actually are.
