  • hello fellow allotmentiers!

    Hello to you all,

So, I am a new owner of an allotment!!

    Absolute novice...

Mum to 2 toddlers and if things go to plan a 3rd baby along the way this year...

    Plot size about 30sq m...

    We live in mid Devon...

Weather is beautiful here at the moment...

    My hands hurt...

I am not really sure what else to say, I just wanted to get myself out and about on the forum.

Hello Mrs 10a and welcome to the Grapevine aka Madhouse.
Pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Sorry about your hands but they'll toughen up and become wrinkled, muddied and calloused like mine
Any plot photos? Its good to take some at the start, then you can look back on them and see how much you've achieved.
      Any questions - just ask!

Hi and welcome to the vine

You sound like you need an allotment to keep you busy When did you get your lottie and what sort of state is it in. Sorry, silly question are you due to have a 3rd or planning to have a 3rd? either way make sure you stay safe and have help.

I found out I was pregnant just as I got my lottie (I am now a back garden grower). One morning I lost my balance and I was not only stuck on the floor for a while, but the only one on the entire site Making sure you has somewhere to rest is a great help.

There is loads of help and advice here and feel free to ask away no matter how daft it may seem. I don't think anyone bites

Hello Mrs & welcome to the Jungle, I take it 10a is your plot number. Not sure what to congratulate you on, the plot or the bairns...............anyways, good luck on both counts & watch out for the nutters, unfortunately they don't lock them up on a night.......................

              Hello and welcome...

You will get many years of enjoyment from your allotment if not your kids
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Hi and welcome on here. Have you any plans on what you want to grow yet. Make a list of all the foods you want to grow and take it from there. Hope you enjoy the experience. Good luck with kids and the plot, I am sure they will love helping.

You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Hello Mrs - welcome to the Vine.

How exciting ...........new veggies you have grown yourself and new babies.
As you are new to all this my advice is - chill, stay calm and don't panic over sowing dates, varieties etc etc.

As VC said sit in a chair for a few hours and have a read as you can mix the serious growing threads with the daft as a box of frogs funny threads.

Oh yes we REALLY love pics

Enjoy your growing and remember it should be fun so don't get downhearted if the pests eat all your hard work
                            And don't forget the pics ... :0

Welcome to the Vine. You are braver than I was in taking on an allotment with small children. I waited til my youngest was at school before taking the plunge.
I am intrigued by you saying you are an new allotment "owner". Is it on a private site where plots are bought and sold? My site is a council run one so I am a tenant.
Soon be time to get planting! Enjoy your plot.
