  • Having a Victor Meldrew Moment...

    Ay don't be-leeeeeeve it!

On Monday I sowed a few lots of seeds. I'm going to have to plant little and often - containers and only 2 of us to eat the results!

I planted A few chrysanthemums (not for eating, obviously!), some rocket and a few of the Oriental Salad seeds I got free. They're in Chinese takeaway trays on my window ledge.

Looked last night and I've got loads of little seedlings - already! (Even 1 or 2 chrysants, which I thought would take a lot longer.)

Is this normal? I mean, 2.5 days? From what I've read elsewhere on here, that seems pretty quick.

If I remember rightly (I sometimes don't so please check!) you can eat crysanthemum greens!

Oriental salad leaves usually come up pretty quickly - they are related to mustard'n'cress, after all!

There is an edible variety of chrysanthemum, referred to as chrysanthemum greens or chopsuey greens, but I don't think you can eat the ordinary ornamental ones:

Feverfew is a type of chrysanth! Good for migraine if leaves are eaten in a sarnie!
