  • Growing peas in gutter

Hi - I read on the forum as gutters being an excellent way to germinate peas but then I drilled holes into the gutter. Just read now on the forum that I shouldn't have drilled holes as the roots will get thru the holes. What can I do now? My peas are shooting slowly. Is there a easy technique to plant the peas when they r ready to be planted out?
    thnx

    Block the holes?

You might have to scoop everything out and start again, but it'll be easier than trying to get the plants out when they've grown through the holes.

How abt if I put some masking tape on the back side of the gutter now. Will that help. Do you think if the roots get stuck to the lasing tape from the inside?

It's worth a try, although I find that masking tape falls off once it gets wet

When I used guttering, I just let the compost trail off to nothing at the end of the gutter.

When it comes to planting what i do is soak the compost well and take the caps of the end of the guttering (plywood) and slide the compost out in to a prepared trench and then pull the soil back to the plants .
