  • Greenhouse replacement cover

    Hi all

My first post here, apologies it's for an info request!

I got a platsic greenhouse 3 years ago which had a green mesh-like cover. It's now useless thansk to next doors' cat who thinks it's great for sharpening her claws.

I have searched for new ones and have found the green ones again and clear plastic ones. Which one do you think would be best?

I am determined to get some veg this year after 2 years of tomato and chilli failure!

    Thanks in advance

    Welcome Angela,

In the past i have had both and feel the green ones to be stronger than the clear.

If you have a poundstrecher/instore nearby then they were selling them a month or so ago but IMO the cost of a totally new plastic greenhouse is'nt much more so it may be worthwhile going down that route and using the old shelves/frame elsewhere in the garden/shed.
I got one of these walk in ones last year and although more expensive than the little ones they are a lot better.I bought a proper greenhouse during the winter but still use this one as well'

The green one's are better, the only thing is they get holes in the light green bits after awhile! Think its to do with the strong summer sun or maybe the frost

Thanks both for your help. Stevemac, that's the same as mine too.

I'll have a scout round for a green one then.

Angela ask on freecycle! Sometimes peeps discover the frames destroyed but not the cover so it may well be that someone has one stored away, no harm in asking! Our local on is preston freecycle, just google it.

Welcome to the vine, I am in chorley, where are you based?
