Globe artichokes..can I harvest first uear after planting older plants?

Evening all,

I received some globe artichoke plants which I believe were a few years old and have planted them earlier in the year and I was wondering if I can harvest some this year?

Harvest whenever there's a bud formed. Leaving them on to flower reduces vigour in future years
