  • Gardening relaxing???? You're joking!!!!

OK .. I may be getting a bit paranoid, but could you take a glance at my tomato plants please?
They seem to be drooping at the new growth on top....
    Am I overwatering/underwatering/or just panicking??????
I gave them their first feed yesterday ( prescribed amount of "Tomatorite")
What, if anything do you think I am doing wrong?

    OK V C I've handed you the loaded gun....off you go !!!!!!

I'm in a quandary, Bradlo, I don't know what to say to upset you this time!! I'd be mightily proud if I were you - Fortunately for your family I'm not!!
You're doing alright, boyo, but you might like to wait until an expert comes along for a true assessment

I've answered this in another thread somewhere, but I can't find it. Basically though, they aren't wilting, they're protecting themselves, because the top growth (leaves) have probably grown faster than the roots can keep up with. So it curls the leaves up to prevent more moisture being lost through transpiration than the roots have the capacity to extract from the soil. In a few days or so, the leaves will open out. In the meantime, to help the plants along, try providing some shade so that the roots can keep up with the plant's requirements

Mine are doing the same, so......what Sairz said (sorry about the spelling but I have to keep reminding myself of the pronunciation). A Google search suggested heat-stress, which amounts to the same thing.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

Don't torment him, Potty, Bradlo's a very sensitive fella and if he doesn't have any toms yet, he'll feel inadequate!!

Well my garlic has rust, my strawberries have aphids but I still find gardening relaxing.

Thats the reason I asked. Forget VC the lady just likes to torment us fella's. Your to early with the tomorite only use that when you have tiny toms on the plant. At this stage I am using Miracle Gro (high nitrogen) for green growth.

Excuse me, Potty, but I was invited to taunt Bradlo and he was disappointed that I didn't, so gave me a 2nd chance! And you come along and accuse me of tormenting the poor chap! As if I would, really!!

Honestly VC... the lad just needs a little advice to get them up and you go on about his lack of green ballls. Have a heart

I need to check out the norty step - it sounds like the most fun place!

I came in here to check out the tomatoes because one of mine did fabulous last season and the other two just couldn't seem to get themselves organised!
