  • Fruit Bushes for a small fruit cage

I have marked out a fruit bed on my newly acquired half lottie which is 2.5m by 2m and I'd like to plant some fruit bushes in the fruit cage, Mr LJ is going to build me. I love raspberries, gooseberries and blackberries but I grow all three at home as well.

    My questions are:

Is there really enough room for Autumn Bliss raspberries, or should I stick to a couple of gooseberries? What combination of bushes should I put in there? I'm happy to try black/red/white currants. Obviously there's not much room so it's about maximising the space available.

Any help gratefully received, I believe they all need planting pretty soon to be established for next year?

You can grow Gooseberries out side of a fruit cage,I only lose a handfull to my local Blackbird.I'd put the more "favoured " ones in the cage,Red currents are a favourite with the birds,Cherries?,Blueberries?,Tayberries?,Strawberries?.
