  • Few Questions

    Hi Guys,

I am already planning what to grow in Autunm and Winter.

On site i have a poly tunnel & 7-8 raised beds soon to be more & was wondering if someone could. Advise us on whats best to grow inside and out as i would like to use the plot all year round.

I would love to get some spuds gonig and other hearty veg to keep me in stock over the winter and those roast dinners.

    Cheers Novice Jim

Some types of broccoli (and calabrese), beetroot can be sown in June for harvest over winter and through to spring. Some types of beans and peas can be sown (indoors or out) until June (great for freezing and using over winter)
Swedes, turnips, swiss chard, fennel and carrots can all be sown until July (always check varieties though)
Cabbage can be sown for crops most of the year round, January King can be sown into June for harvest from November - January/February, sow Durham early cabbage from July for harvest next spring.

Several things can be overwintered under cover or started early undercover; cauliflower can be sown in October, overwintered undercover and planted out for an early harvest next year and things like beetroot and peas can be started earlier under cover for earlier crops.

I'm sure I'll remember more things later but tat all I think of for now.
