| Just bought some fertilizer and in my book it says rake in 2 weeks before planting. Do I have to wait 2 weeks? A couple of days or same day would be better for me

| Not sure Potty but I think it needs to be weathered for a time before planting or it may 'burn' the plants roots.

| I'd be inclined to stick to what they say PP, as snadger says you can do more harm than good if you're not careful

| PP, why are you buying fertiliser? ;-) Just rot down some nettles, comfrey or bindweed/couch in water. Smells bad, but its free, organic, no 'foodmiles' and there's no packaging to put in a landfill

| The simple answer is, it depends on which fertiliser it is. Many packs say wait two weeks as the manufacturer assumes the ground you're planting in has had no nutrients since Noah was building a boat. If it's GP fertiliser, mix it in with the soil and plant. Most things like Miracle Grow, Growmore, 6x and Rooster are GP fertilisers, so there's no problem. Give it a go. If you get it wrong, do something different next time. If tha does nowt, tha learns nowt. |
