    Electric Propagator

    Silly question time!

    I have an electric propagator do i take out the plants as soon as the shoots come up or do i leave them until the first true leaves come out?

    I'm trying to grow tomatos and courgettes.

    Any advice would be helpful.

    Take seedling out of the heated propagator as soon as they start popping through. You then need to put them into an unheated propagator to bring temp down gradually.

    Your courgette seeds won't need to go in a heated propagator, and unheated one or a windowsill will be fine for them.

      I take them out as soon as they've broken the surface. Reason being is that they'll get drawn and leggy due to the heat - therefore making weak plants.

      I think I've always just bunged my courgettes out direct in pots outside mate - I'm right near you too, infact where I am (Caerphilly) is ~1C less than in Cardiff... I think last year I did them mid-april, but brought the pot in the garage if it frosted. I'll do them at the start of May this time... the courgette plant seems to grow very fast).
