  • Dwarf beans

    Please can you tell me whether you have to have canes for supporting dwarf beans. I have never grown them before.

    I find if you plant them about 8" apart and the rows about 12" apart, they support each other. Some aren't much more that 12" high themselves so I've never given them any support. (Hard woman, aren't I?)

      I often stick some twiggy sticks in them for a bit of support.

        Yes they don't need huge canes but a little help is good. They are delicious. One of my favourites last year

          Probably depends which variety you sow but I must admit I've never given mine any support.

                Another trick is to sow in several in a big pot and if they look like they need support just tie some gardening string round the lot.

                  Flum,do they have sufficient space?I can understand putting the string around if they are in the pot but what about a row of dwarfies?
