  • Does comfrey tea need light?

    Hi,
I know bit of a bizarre question but does comfrey need light to rot down?
Was thinking of using a black rubbish bin with a lid on and putting it in the shed. My plot has a lot houses by it and I want it out of the way of the kids. Also outside is a bit bumpy and very uneven so chance of it been bumped by one or two kids is very possible.
Can I do the same with nettles?
    Thanks

You'll need lids on to keep the stench down..................

My comfreys in a old water cistern it seems to work well because the lid clicks in place plus it doesn't have a handle so i'm not tempted to try to move it and spill it all over my feet.

That's why I don't want the kids to "find" it. Believe me they find everything and believe me they would want to have a look inside.

When our grandkids were younger and my comfrey was in a bucket they used to dare each other to lift the lid

My two would dare each other then one would push the other and a fight would start then it would go everywhere.
I can see the pair of them all covered in it. All stinky and slimey

Well they couldn't deny it, thats for sure and dont think the local residents would be too pleased either. Hefty lock on the door me thinks.

I also admire you for working in the shed with it......

That's why I was thinking well away from people so they can't complain. Do have a lot of houses by my plot.

One way to teach them a lesson in doing as they are told.,

The only solution then is to hose them with hosepipe (cold water) as you cannot let them in the house with that pong.

Would hose them down the plot. Wouldn't let them in the car and its a bit to far for two stinky kids to walk home.

I have to dare myself to lift the lid

I have a poor sense of smell so I'll be fine. Used to change the kids nappies without gipping.
Do nettles smell as bad or just as bad?

I prefer the pong of nettles to the stench of comfrey - but I wouldn't dab either behind my ears
