    Does anyone work their plot at night or is it just me?

    Evening all,

    I sometimes end up staying on my plot until it gets quite dark (the bottom of the plot backs onto a main road so it is sufficiently lit) and I was wondering if anyone else does this or is this not the 'norm'?

    I stay because I get quite into what I'm doing and I believe it may also help deter potential thieves.

    If you're happy working into the night Samuel, then who are we to say otherwise. Carry on doing what makes you happy.

      I've worked quite late and stopped when I couldn't see the ground! No street lighting so can't go too late.

        i've carried on digging and planting into the dark hours .... your eyes get used to the dark and it's easy to carry on ....

          Definitely, not for me, I'm much more of a 'morning allotment person', and am often leaving when others arrive.

            Do take care if you garden in bad light. I gather it's quite easy to poke your eye on branches, canes and suchlike.

              Sometimes I have to do this especially in the spring when there is so much work to do. Depending on what part of the plot I'm working in I use my yard light or if further from the house I use a small generator and floodlight to throw light on the subject. I have outdoor sockets in my polytunnels so working at night there is no problem.

                I would like to but we have no lighting at all. Instead I work in the garden the best I can. I am quite a morning person so if the kids let me I could quite happily be down the allotment or the garden 7ish easily.

                  I garden at night all time. I started doing when grand pap told me,he did it doing war after threat German bombing ended. He used and old miners head lamp. I use a head lamp that contractors use to work in attics or other dark places. A hand torch works but limit things since you lose the use one hand holding it.

                    I do it occasionally. We have solar powered security lights on the shed which throw a decent amount of light and I have a solar powered shed light.
                    What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

                      I will potter in the greenhouse/ potting shed when it is dark that is about it.

                      What I have done for some years now is gone out in the veggy patch on boxing day regardless of weather and worked most of the day. It is like the gardening new year to me and I like the thought of a fresh start.

                      Yes I know it is weird but I thought I would share that with you.
