Yes, they add potash to the heap. Compost everything except dock, dandelion, couch grass, bindweed and nettle roots.Gardening requires a lot of water - most of it in the form of perspiration. Lou Erickson, critic and poet -
As long as there is no sign of disease. Peas and beans are very good for that kind of thing and good at adding things to the soil whilst growing.I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Totally agree with above, but was wondering what was making you hesitate before composting? Presumably by "vines" you just mean the stems.Comment

If you chop them up a bit using a spade I find it helps them to break down quicker.Location....East Midlands.Comment
