  • Coriander & Curry plant

    Hi All
I grow in containers in a GH. I am having trouble getting my coriander seeds to greminate. I have a propagator in the way. Will this help when it arrives?
I am also interested in growing curry leaves. Can anyone advise me on this.

    Thanks
    Jim

I sow coriander outside direct in the soil with usually good results. So a propagator is not really necessary except I suppose if you are trying to grow them now.

They do like shade to stop them bolting early but this shouldn't effect germination.

The usual problems are poor compost, old seeds, lack of watering.

I don't know about curry leaves.

Coriander hates being transplanted ... sow it direct. I did some a month ago, and it's 2 inches high already

I sow my early season corriander in 3" pots and then transplant the whole thing in a clump and it's fine but I have heard that it doesn't like it's roots being disturbed individually.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I've moved clumps also Alison, and they've been fine. They just don't work if I grow them in modules and then plant them out ... they bolt.

At the moment I have seeds planted in a 4" container in the GH. They were planted on the 14th and hope to see signs soon! I did have sucessfull crops during the summer but the last seeds planted in late August did not gereinate at all!!
Maybe our bad summer has to do with it. Not much sun, so, not much heat in GH!!!

If it's in the way can't you just move it?
