  • Chilli pepper........or not.

I have some sweet pepper plants which include 'mini bell mix' 'romano mix' and 'california wonder' and hot pepper 'cayenne'.

I have somhow lost a label for one of the plant. It looks like a chilli but could it be romano mix?

I dont want to pick it to taste it so if anyone knows a way that i can find out because a chilli pepper in a salad wil be a bit of a shock!

    Thankyou in advance

Any chance of a pic? You're going to have to pick it to put it in the salad and at that point you can try a little bit and if it's a Chilli you can just keep it 'til you need it. If that's going to be longer than a few days away you can freeze it or dry it until needed.

i seem to think that cayenne are quite small thin chillis... wouldnt have thought theres any chance of mistaking the fruit for any of the others which should be very much larger when ready...

This is what Cayenne chillies look like (obviously they are green when unripe) Google Image Result for http://vitaminia.com/shopvitamins/guide/Food_Guide/Cayenne_Pepper.jpg I've just googled Romano, and they look very similar. I think you're just going to have to taste it.
