Hi, this is my 2nd year growing my own salad veg and fruit, but i think i may of killed my carrot's. I started them off in a large tub, they grew thick and fast in my greenhouse, so i made myself a large long wooden planter to transfer them into, they've now all gone completely limp...will they pick up????

Can't help you there. Last year I transplanted some plants that were growing to thickly in one spot. Some of them died and some lived. Think the ones that did the best had some shade. So I planted them next to something else that would take the heat for themAli

Welcome to the vine Clojosh! On the whole, carrots are normally grown in place, but I did try some in a tub this year and have planted them out where they seem to be growing ok.
did you make sure their wee roots and properly in contact with the soil? Have you watered them well?
potstubsdustbins may have some ideas of what's gone wrong....If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!Comment

Carrots are the only things I sow where they are going to grow, they really dont like being transplanted.

Carrots and the parsnips, sown in situ for me as I tried once and ended up with gnarled things that professed to be parsnips, there after I always sowed in situ.
As with transplanting keep them moist for a few days and hopefully they'll perk right up.Never test the depth of the water with both feet

TS is right (again). Sow where they are to grow and thin them out when they're big enough, they really don't transplant. You can grow them in quite small, deep containers and harvest lots of baby carrots, or grow round ones like Parmex or Paris Market which don't need as deep a container. I am afraid Ps&Ks I can't help. There are certain rules that should be obeyed and one of them as stated already is root veg don't like being disturbed. Therefore I plant like the others were they are going to grow.
