I would leave the net on. I've never grown sprouts in pots before, but possibly give it a little liquid feed???

Yes, def leave the nets on. I haven't seen a catty about for ages, but the pigeons are still strutting their stuff in my garden.

Remember that compost /peat from a bag has only 6 to 8 weeks of feed in it, same with soil from the garden in a pot so, a feed with Tomarite would do or mix a weeny bit of blood, fish and bone meal into the top couple of inches of the soil in the pot. This will break down and feed the plant as it gets watered by you or the sky.

Thanks all,

I have fed my plant with some tomato feed and left the net on. The brussels on the plant seem to be the size of a small marble maybe smaller, is this normal or should they be bigger this time of year. Also how often should i feed it.

Hi again,

I have noticed in the inner leaves something looking like cigarette ash?any ideas what this is?

Hi the cigarette ash is mealy aphids and they eat they sap from the youing inner leaves stunting growth. You can either squish them or spray with organic pesticide/soft soap. They multiply very quickly so keep an eye out for them!

I usually side dress my brassicas with a high nitrogen feed like blood meal when they begin to produce their heads.
