I started some off in the cold greenhouse a few weeks ago and they're now a couple of inches tall and sat outside the back door. If the rain eases off tomorrow I will be planting them out on the lottie for growing on and then harvesting early in the spring. Some people do have them in the greenhouse and they'll flower earlier but you'll have to pollinate them which can be a bit tricky due to the depth of the flowers (naturally they need long tongued bees).

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Thanks Alsion. I think I will leave them in the greehouse for a while, if it wont do them any harm. They can then go where the leeks are at the minute

I've got two dozen broad bean plants in the green house, there about 6" tall, I'm not putting them out yet, the poor little sods will get blown to next weekend.

i grew BB's in the GH as an experiment last year and we got a bumper crop from them early in the spring this year. i was a bit worried about pollinating insects finding them but they seemed to find them no bother and we were enjoying BB's much earlier than i'd expected.

doing the same again this year and planning to grow even more!

PS - i didnt actually plant them in the border till about february i think - they just sat in the wee modules till then - didnt want the slugs to get to them

Have planted mine out on the plot today seeing as it was actually nice round here today.

Planted mine straight in the garden to-day as it was nice. Came in, then rain came down like stair-rods. Hope it won't wash the soil away. The mice will have a field day.
