Default Bell Pepper
I was given a bell pepper plant a few months ago, which is doing really well.

I was wondering though if you need to pinch out the side shoots like on a tomato plant.

Nope, the flowers appear on the bushy bits.

no, dont need to pinch out side shoots. you can pinch out the tips to help them bush out a bit, the side shoots eventually will provide more fruits
