I have started to grow beetroot and i never have before. Does anyone have any tips to help them grow healthy?

I bought some seedlings from a garden centre about 6 weeks ago and they seem to flourishing, when do I need to pull them out? Brand new at growing edible things! I have just built my own raised bed in the garden and am kind of having a go at all sorts!Comment

Make sure they stay well watered. I've seen conflicting advice in the same book on their preferred growing conditions but the best results I've had is from rich moist soil. You also get big leaves which is great cos you can either steam the big ones like spinach or eat the small ones in salad. Wish I could get the hang of posting photos - we like ours pickled, I pulled enough for a 2lb jar yesterday. One of the most satisfying feelings has got to be skinning the beets when they've boiled! I grow mine in a patch of ordinary garden soil every year (no rotation there then). I don't water or feed them and they come up beautifully every time.
