Soapy water doesn't do much on its own, it depends how much you hate chemicals...

the law says that its illegal to spray anything on a plant that is not sold by a large company with the money to register it....even if its just tap water!..... for spraying on plants....( what a load of rubbish!, a law designed to cost people money and give power to big business!)

Many pesticides are based on a trace active ingredient and sunflower oil in suspension

You can add very strong active ingredients yourself by soaking a bit of tobacco in water....but don't breath it in!, sunflower oil/tobacco water and dishwash liquid = very strong pesticide!

instead of soapy water use a mix of 1 litre water, a teaspoon of cooking oil and a drop of dish wash liquid, mix the oil and dishwash liquid and then add a bit of hot water, then shake, add cold water afterwards upto 1 litre

All the soap does in water is work as a wetting agent making it spread, add the oil and the detergent emulsifies it into suspension in the water, it suffocates pests almost immediately

Use neem oil instead of sunflower oil it is a natural pesticide, kills on contact, safe to use ( often used as skin cosmetic ingredient and anti mosquito oil )

neem is best, but sunflower oil works very very well, I would avoid the tobacco
