  • bay tree advice needed please

    hi

i have a bay tree in my garden.last year it was really tall but we allowed one of our neighbours to cut it down a bit, but he went a bit over board and cut about 2 thirds off it. the cutting was done last sept and the top where it was cut is dormant and green looking. Ive bought a saw so i can hopefully get it looking better. can i just saw below the dormant part(s) and it will grow back now its into spring?
    hope that all made sense

    Thanks

is that edible (sweet) bay, or is it a laurel?

They can apparently be cut back really hard (though pref. in the spring), so it should recover just fine: Pruning Bay leaf Trees - When How to Prune - Laurus nobilis
