    bark chippings

    Hi ALL
    I WAS IN NEED OF A LARGE AMOUNT OF BARK CHIPPINGS FOR PATHWAYS BEETWEEN RAISED BEDS.
    The price at garden centres was too expensive, so I looked through the yellow pages and phoned a couple of tree surgeons, on my third call, I struck gold and last week I took delivery of half a lorry load of bark chippings.
    The people were so helpfull, and it was absolutely FREE.
    Hope this helps someone.

    Similar thing happened at the allotments. The Council used to drop off an odd load but were talking maybe two small loads a year for 40 allotments.
    When I took over as Secretary I blanket emailed about 6 local tree surgeons. I had two replies offering free woodchippings one of which must have delivered 30 tonne of woodchippings throughout the year for nothing.

    Unfortunately the supply has now dried up for some reason and I am no longer Hon Sec so may have to make my own arrangements!

      Thats a great idea! I wonder if I can do the same... Mind you first I'll need to "degrass" my plot!
