  • Bare root fruit trees & bushes - any good places to order them online?

    Morning all,

I was just wondering where everyone buys their bare rooted fruit trees and bushes- any recommendations?

I would like to get a couple of fruit trees but when I looked in the garden centre (where they were in small pots) the prices where out of my reach. But my mums friend (who can not remember where she ordered the from) managed to get a bare rooted cherry tree for around £15 and delivered to her. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could be able to purchase my fruit trees from like this?

    Many thanks,

    Samuel

There's a site here with quite a lot of information Samuel. Fruit Trees

Whatever you do, don't buy anything from Garden Bargains - they have a really bad reputation.

Lidl, Aldi or £Stretcher(Instore)............Bargains @ 4 or 5 squid. I wouldn't give online companies the satisfaction.

I've had good raspberries and strawberries from Ken Muir. No reason to suppose their fruit bushes and trees are any less good. Have replaced plants which failed too.

Aldi or Lidl, just wait until they come in stock again (in the meantime, sign up to their newsletter)

I can't wait to plant my first fruit tree

If you are talking about Aldi/Lidl, usually early spring time.

I just ordered some from Garden Bargains - Mini ORchard set is £19.99 (apple, pear, plum and cherry) and they have an offfer on for two for £15 on some others. Bought 8 and cost £51 including postage - will let you know how they look when they arrive and how they fare for future reference.

Leon, I don't want to alarm you but have a look at this http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ppy_65750.html
Check the trees over carefully when they arrive.

I bought a Victoria Plum on dwarf stock 4 years ago from Aldi. It fruited properly this year - about 4kgs. Hoping for more this year. Excellent fruit. Tree looks strong and healthy - planted in our lawn beside beehives.
