    Anyone used this style compost bin?

    My free dalek should be delivered within the next week or two and the council will also give me a significant rebate on another compost bin, a work farm or a bokashi unit.

    These are currently on special and I wondered if anyone has used them. I like the idea of being able to take small amounts of compost from the bottom without having to relocate the whole heap, but I worry that the unit might get too much air to be efficient.

    I have one. The doors at the bottom are useful. I've no idea how efficient it is compared to other bins as the part rotted stuff is moved on to other bins.

      If you're happy with it, that's good enough for me. My main worry was whether or not it would be stinky. It doesn't need to be particularly fast.

        I've used one & has been very good. If the ratios of greens to browns are close it shouldn't stink, unless of course you add meats, fats etc.

              I've got one of these, the only thing I found is that I had to put some string around the top to stop it "popping open" when it got full. I think its better than a Dalek.

                          It certainly does although I don't know the scientific reason why male is better than female, best have a goggle...........
