  • Any top tips for getting through the RHS exam?

    Hi all,

I have RHS exams in a few weeks for my level 2 horticulture course. Anyone got any advice and top tips?! (Besides the obvious ones like... Revise the syllabus! Duh!

    Hiya!

My only tips are to do it in chunks of 7 at a time until you know them off by heart - esp the Latin...and try to link each one by finding out the root of the name and why they are called what they are called...I have the 'plant names explained' book which helped me as I could link the names in my head...

I agree with Zazen. small amounts of information but frequently. also look at past papers for the way the questions are written, sometimes what they ask and what they mean (not necc the RHS - happens on all exams!) can be two different things. the examiners comments are often enlightening

I've got some level 3 exams in feb too.

Trying to keep up with the little and often approach. Also got the plants names explained book and a few others.

As I'm studying online I have access to some past papers with examiner comments too which are very helpful when trying to understand what the question requires, in terms of giving an answer that equals the amount of marks available.

        Good luck!
