  • American Land Cress

I've been given some American Land Cress seeds from a friend, but I don't know much about it and don't have much room left to put it in. Can I plant it between some other crop? Any tips on how to grow it?

    Thanks

    hi jenny

i grow my american land cress in old tomato punnets on the windowsill. they are deep enough for the plants to grow and with successional sowing i always have some cress to hand. worth a try if you are short of space
above the clouds the sun is shining and the sky is blue. if you look hard enough you can just about see it!

I thought it would be very easy Jenegade. I tried it in a container and in the ground but it struggled and didn't come to much. I didn't really like it so didn't bother with it any more. Hope yours gets on better.

How deep are the tomato punnets? Why do you grow them inside? Does it not grow well outdoors in the UK?

Hmmm... It's just some seeds that someone else was going to throw out, so it's worth trying, maybe I should raise it indoors nd then try putting out. See what happens!

        Thanks

Charles Dowding recommends sowing land cress in late summer or early autumn - in warmer weather it is prone to flea beetle. I haven't had much success with it so far, but I'm going to persevere because I love watercress.
