Airline hose / garden hose

Providing you can get the correct diameter for the fittings you use I would say most certainly, it will deffo take water pressure.

I can get any size diameter I need, just wasn't sure if there was a difference between the two types of hose, what diameter is standard hozelock fittings? Or do they vary?

Problem with hoselock fittings is that they "suit" a specific internal diameter, which I expect you can match, but also a hose thickness (the gap in the fitting between the inner core and the "teeth" that grip the outside of the hose). I am wondering if your hose might be thicker (as I assume it needs to be stronger).

I generally hate Hozelock fittings, they don't last, cost a lot, and need a female at the end of each hose as well as a male-to-male adaptor ... just to join two hoses together! I use Geka connectors which just have a barbed pipe that goes inside the hose (secured with a jubilee clip or similar). Geka are single-gender connectors and also come in a range of diameter fittings (all share the same connector part, so different diameter hoses are all interconnectable). Geka are made from brass, indestructible (ours are left out all winter and I've had them for years and not even had to replace the O-rings) and cost £2 each

I wouldn't use 1/2" hose for more than 25M, maybe 50M tops, the drop in flow is huge. We use 3/4" as our garden is large - only snag is that a reel of it is much heavier to lug about.

If you then need a Hozelock connection to connect some bit of kit (a sprinkler for example) you could get a 2' bit of regular garden hose and attach a Gecko to one end and a Hozelock to the other, as an adaptor.


Geka connector

Just a consideration; air line pipe is a lot heavier in weight than normal garden hose so might involve a bit of lugging if it's very long.

I forgot about this connectors! I used to use them when I worked in a plant nursery, extremely robust! Il go buy some just now haha then i will get hose to suit.
