I'm Pumpkin Becki because last year (my first with an allotment), I grew a pumpkin variety called 'Becky', but I've always spelt mine with an 'i'!

PS, I think this is a brilliant thread, I've always wondered how everyone arrived at their 'pen names'.

I don't think they're related to N. E. Juan from Spain though?

Becki,
Thank You (see Wellie bob head and curtsey), I find it's much nicer talking to people if you know a little bit about them, and this way, it's not delving too deep into their privacy?

It's a bit like the old adage - "always nice to put a face to the name". Kinda...

Agreed, another fine thread Wellie.

Well mine has derived from my surname over time...

Newcombe -> Newcomber -> Cucumber -> Cuke

So, it seemed an obvious forum name when the time came

When I bought a four-acre field my sister ,Jane ,reffered to me as "Mistress Fouracre". The Polly came from I know not where!
I quite like the name though and might change my own name to it!!

Bluemoon coz I'd been a reader of the mag from issue 1 and I really wanted to use this site, but I was also ever so slightly technophobic and thought I'd only be here once in a....... How many posts in 2 months is that?

It was my OH who originally joined and we thought we could share - after all, we'd never been on a forum before- and we'd never really be posting

well...it came to pass ..that we couldn't both use the same username and my OH just don't have the time like wot I do , so I pinched his name.
His signature as a teenager looked like Nicos and so the name sort of stuck, although that's not his name and I never call him that.
I do ask his advice as he's a keen gardener so we do tend to chat about the forum!

I grew some amazing tiny cucumbers - just four inches long - and they were really tasty and very cute. My boyfriend really made me laugh when he said they were actually cutecumbers... and I thought it was quite a good username.

I'm not really very cute in fact... more utility girl

Sewer Rat - cause that's what my job was when I joined the Vine - laying / repairing sewers and field drains, installing septic tanks - really glamorous job

Rat, I can't imagine why you would want to give that up to run your own veggie business

Believe it or not, there are days when I could quite happily take a day off from the veggies and disappear down a drain for a change

Actually no, they tend to coincide with the third or fourth day of my handweeding onions or something similar

Hadn't thought of that, I used to hate 5 mins of onion weeding when I was a kid - I wonder if that's why this year will be my first serious try!

Oops, sorry, chatting on a non chatty thread - apologies folks.

Default Me...

Well i'm seasprout, the sprout bit is cos i occasionally read Robert Rankin books and there is occasionally a sprout mentioned, 'if you read them, then you may understand'

I wanted a non-generic, non-specific name, but now people think i'm a fella.

However i have no idea about why i use the sea bit..??!!

I do occasionally use 'other', poorer quality gardening forums, and use the prefix sea on other nicknames. But i didn't tell you that.
