Seems i have a broody specaldy, been chukin her off the last 4 days, very indignant but not at all nasty,me thinks tommorow will be sitting unwillingly on frozen veg,i do not have a wire cage, but am thinking i could knock i little shed up with a wire bottom on bricks outside, with food and water, the pen is realy secure, what do you think,i have not closed the pophole door for many weeks as it has been warm and they just fine,

I've tried in the past to break their broodiness but it didn't work so I just let them get on with it now. Six weeks without eggs is six weeks while they recover ready for the next round of egg laying. They need a holiday!

I was a bit bothered, have read that if left to it they could die of starvation,as they will just keep on sitting hoping for something to hatch, that never will,am not bothered about an egg or two less as i get plenty so far,and give away, thaks VC,obviously is miss leading what i did read,

I just lift them out of the coop as their food is outside, and stop them going back in for a while. Don't know if you can do that with your coop?

Thankyou Snadger, but i do not need anymore chickens, plus knowing my luck they would all be crowers, and no way could i dispatch and eat,or give em to another to do,epecially after oooing and arrrring over them.

Would agree. Move out for food and water, Prevent return. With ever shorter days and colder weather she will get the hint.

If weather turns, could also close off nest box during the day. The aim is to unsettle the sitting.
