  • another slow year

I tied in all the unfruited polka and Joan j raspberry stems today as storms are forecast for the weekend, about 50% this year as the summer never really got started, slowing down all the seasonal growth. Although we only have autumn fruiting rasps' we end up each year with fresh stems that haven't produced, we have got used to it now and pick from June to October, the only bonus is that these stem put out lots of side shoots that are laden with fruit, so we don't lose out , just have to wait for the stems from last year to produce, tonight we had rice pud with fully ripe rasps' on top, tough, I know but someone has to do it..

Yes our Autum Raspberries have been very disappointing this year - usually make jam but not this year - they are my favourite fruit but guess because it's been so wet the fruit did not set . Oh well let's hope next year will be better!!
