  • Everlasting onion or welsh onion question.

    Hi,

I use to have some everlasting onions but someone's dog quite liked them as well and ate them all.

I have been looking at getting some more but the everlasting onions plants I have seen are very expensive.

Then I saw Welsh onions. Never had them before but can only find them in seed form and in bulk form.

So I was wondering which is the better onion to grow? And how easy are they to grow from seed?

    Thanks in advance.

IMO Everlasting are great as an alternative to spring onions, welsh onions are great for bees, butterflies and flower arranging

I grow Bunching onions from seed - Ishikura, Kyoto and others. Some are the size of small onions now - mainly because I forget to pull them

I was sent everlasting onions by a fellow vine member and they all died!

But I have done well with Catawissa Walking Onions I had so many mini bulbs that I have 120 of them growing in the greenhouse overwintering for an early start next year. See Alans Allotment: Walking Onions

Why thank you noviceveggrower, It gets lots of visitors but very few comments are left on it. It keeps me on track and helps with my planning especially during the dark wet winter months when I can't get down on the plot as often as I would like.
