anyone else tried to grow fuschia berry?

being a sucker for anything new that might work, I bought some fuschia berry plugs from one of the big companies and planted them up in hanging baskets.

nett result very pretty typical fuschia flowers on quite long spindly branches but no sign at all of the promised berries.

ready to write it off as continued learning experience but curious if anyone else has found this?

I grew them last year. Got some berries but wasn't overly impressed - mushy and bland.
    Another happy Nutter...

Still waiting for berries - in fact any sort of growth at all. IMO they've been hyped up as summat special when really they're just fuchsias.
I've nibbled the berries on other fuchsias many times - they're OK but nothing special.

I sometimes eat the berries from normal fuchsias - can't say I've found them to be anything special - good for winding up anyone who believes them to poisonous, when you start rolling around on the ground.

Must remember that I've noticed that its no good offering them around your friends, nobody will try one and they look aghast when I eat one

I would like to be able to do that but if I went down I wouldn't be able to get back up.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

I'm sure hunching over, while making choking noises and going red in the face would be another option - try to call it a day before someone phones 999 though.

final conclusion , large quite pretty fuschias, berries totally tasteless textureless rubbish , only satisfaction left is seeing how quickly frost destroys them

I grew them and got quite a few berries but as has been said before they were bland and uninteresting.
