Well its that time of year again, had my renewal today and just as reported last year a ridiculous amount £792-16p

Just like last year on the phone to the company, after confirming my I.D. the very nice young man asked what he could do for me with regards my renewal. "I have called to allow you to give me your best price before I go shopping, because you can rest assured I am not paying £792" said I.

After much coughing and spluttering "I will see what I can do sir." "Thank you I want everything you have quoted for......... I just want to pay much less."

Five minutes later "I have had a good look sir, and with the same company and benefits the best I can do is ............. £506-32p". "Thank you debit my card please." Result

The moral of the story with these jokers. No matter what the quoted price, even if it looks good, challenge it. A 10 minute phone call saving £285-44p, that a darn good rate of pay.

or go on some of the money saving websites and get an even better price and tell them that Company B have quoted you £320 and you want it for the same or your switching, they are absolutely disgusting at the insurance companies the way they do business, I have zero loyalty and if they offer me a high renewal I just cancel it and go elsewhere.. transferring your no claims is a lot easier than it used to be years ago where some of them would hold your certificate of no claims back to hinder you, what worries me is how many people just accept the renewal price and get ripped off

My son has been with the same company since he passed his test 12 years ago when he was 17. The price has been great since then, usually around the £300 mark. This year at the age of 29 and no claims at all over the years it rose to just over £900. Called the company, no joy. Shopped around and eventually got the price of £350.00. So much for loyalty!
Pet insurance is the same. I was quoted £900+ for Harry dog this year, almost 4 times the cost to insure my 4 x 4!

Talking to friend in the club yesterday and told him about this success.

Just done Virgin Media says he, is your contract up? If so ring them and keep pressing the buttons until you hear 'if you are thinking of leaving for any other reason press 5' then haggle.

Did as he suggested, answered by a very nice lady, explained my reason for leaving was 'you are to expensive'. After looking for me, my monthly bill due to rise to just over £60 is now £42 per month for the next year, finally she said "I expect another call in a years time we will always try to find you a better deal" Didn't even have to haggle which took the wind out of my sails.

So peeps if your VM contract as expired get ringing.
