  • Courgette Fruit

Why are my courgette fruits not developing? I have one very healthy courgette plant with plenty of male and female flowers. I recently noticed three fruits starting to develop growing to around three inches which eventually turned the customary darker green and the flower dying back. Since then although the fruit looks healthy the fruit is not getting any larger. Is there something wrong with the plant? Has the fruit not been pollinated? Can anyone give me some ideas why the fruit stopped growing?

    Best regards,
    Greg

My first few courgettes usually just grow to baby size. I cut them off and then the next ones tend to grow to full size. Although, for some reason, this year a lot of mine are getting to about three inches, turning yellow and dying off

Incomplete pollination, I think. The next ones should be better - fingers crossed.

... plus... you can always eat the leaves. Haven't tried them myself but keep meaning to.

They taste pleasant in a green sort of way (difficult to describe except they do taste green). Bit of a faff peeling any spines off the ribs and stems though. The Zimbabwe lady who got me to try them ate loads and always in cream.
