Blue Hobbit I think, got some in the garden that look similar, as the little seed head is on a long stem and the leaves are thin. Other sea hollies seem to have broader leaves and make a little cup for the seed head.

Can anyone identify this please? It's growing in semi shade, and has about a dozen of these flower spikes. Each individual flower is a couple of inches long. The plant itself is around 3 or 4 foot.

Yes, I think that's it, thanks VC. I don't know how you do it!

I spotted it today in a relative's garden - always nice to discover a flower that thrives in semi shade. I'll ask her to save some seed when it's over.

                  Just guessed WPG
Actually, I thought the flower looked like a campanula but didn't recognise the leaves - so goggled Campanula with toothed leaves

I found this gorgeous single flower today in the middle of a patch of tall weeds. It's around 2 foot tall, has a single stem without foliage and the flower is about 6 inches in diameter. The foliage in the photo is from the weeds, not the flower.
Please can anyone tell me what it is?
