Any advice about maintenance of above mentioned? We've got a decent sized hedge around the plot site with a good mixture of native plants. From what I have been told we should be looking to control the hedge with a proper cut in late autumn and then perhaps taking it back a bit in Feb/March

Essentially we can pay for a proper cut once a year and for the rest we have to do it on a volunteer basis - none of us know too much about this so any advice welcome.

Don't cut between March & August because of nesting birds.

I pay a local farmer to cut the hedgerow back with his tractor once a year. Last year it was £30. He cuts it it late September.
