Last year's new stems/this year's fruit bearing main stems on my 10 year old thornless blackberry have a pretty heavy dose of what I assume is rust (elongated orange markings). I know there's no spray available to be used, but has anyone else experienced this, if so do the fruit/plant survive?

I read a while ago about sulphur of potash helping protect against rust,I apply it on the soil around my fruit trees & flowering shrubs in Feb/March. It helps plant cell membranes & disease resistance from what I remember, have you used any fertiliser this year,if you have then I'm wondering what you've used & if it's ok to use the potash too?Location : Essex
