  • Cherry and Plumb tree in containers

    Afternoon all.

After attending the local garden centre this morning i purchased a colt rootstock stella cherry tree an wonder if it could be grown in a large container?

While there I also purchased a Victoria plumb St Julian A tree and also wonder if it could be grown in a large container?

If not I what should I be looking for as I'm a total novice at growing fruit trees.

    Thanks

Yes you can grow them in a large container but they will need feeding and frequent (every couple of days) watering in the summer, and you'll get much lower yields than you'd get in the ground. Better to grow in the ground if you can. Typically for container growing you'd also choose a more dwarfing rootstock than the ones you have.
