I don't grow Sungold but I've had this happen to other tomato plants. When it does, I just let the top sideshoot grow to take over the job of leader.

I grow Sungold every year and this is a new one on me. Follow the advice given and as insurance create yourself a back up plant.

Allow one of the side shoots you normally nip out and throw away to grow on to about 3 inches in length, carefully remove it and pop it in something like a milk bottle filled with water. Keep the water topped up and in about a week it will throw roots, allow them to develop and then pot up into moist compost.

These are off a Tumbler I had to rescue when the hanging basket err ..........fell off the wall
