  • Possible knotweed?

    Hello everyone.

I'm new to the forums, but I've been reading posts on these forums since I got my allotment in June of last year.

I've just taken a picture of a new shoot that's just come up on my plot. It's about 6 inches high. I'm fairly certain it's knotweed from searching google images but I was hoping somebody could confirm it for me?

The plot next to me has a little bit of it that is being treated at the moment.

Any help identifying this thing would be most appreciated.

    Cheers.

Hi Craig and welcome to the forum
I'm no expert but it looks like knotweed to me. This might help How To Identify Japanese Knotweed, Knotweed Identification Card & Pictures

Craig I'd also go with Japanese knotweed there's a patch of it growing on the land behind our house
      Location....East Midlands.

Thank you both for replying, even though it wasn't what I wanted to hear!

I pretty much knew, just hoping I was wrong. Not the end of the world though, only in a little tiny patch and luckily it can be dealt with without the rest of the allotment suffering.

I know it can take a while to beat, but my allotment journey is a marathon not the 100 metres!

        Thanks again!

        Craig.

That's the way to look at it, Craig. It could be a lot worse - and it isn't

                Hi Craig,

If it is knotweed (and I am definitely not an expert) - I believe it has to be disposed of 'officially'
